B&CE, the not-for-profit provider of The People’s Pension, has today launched an auto-enrolment hub to help employers in the construction industry to understand their duties under workplace pensions legislation. It will be accessed through the websites of key construction industry federations.

The hub was launched at the Annual General Meeting of the National Specialist Contractors Council (NSCC), the voice of specialist organisations within the construction industry, which will also be the first organisation to use the new hub. It will provide information for employers and signpost to further guidance, as well as a new quick and easy sign up portal to join The People’s Pension. The new hub will be rolled out across a number of construction industry federations.

B&CE has provided financial products in the construction sector for over 70 years and is NSCC’s key partner for pensions and other employee benefits. The hub extends the long-standing support that B&CE currently offers to its partners in the construction industry.

Patrick Heath-Lay, Chief Executive Officer of B&CE, said:

“B&CE has a long and proud history of working with the construction industry, so we are very pleased to have developed this facility, which we will be rolling out across a number of construction federations over the next few months. As employers in the construction industry approach auto-enrolment, we hope that this new hub will give them the information they need to make meeting their auto-enrolment duties simple whilst offering the best possible pension to their workers.

“When we launched The People’s Pension in 2011, we opened it up to employers from any sector. We now have over a million members and we are confident that its combination of independent governance, excellent administration and simplicity will be attractive to employers in all industries, especially construction.”

Suzannah Nichol MBE, Chief Executive of NSCC, said:

“There are many small employers in the construction industry, who are approaching their auto-enrolment staging date in the next few years. I hope that this hub will help them get to grips with their new duties.

“The new hub will make it quicker and easier for Specialist Contractors to get all the information they need about auto-enrolment. This will leave them more time to focus on what they do best: building the Britain of tomorrow.”
