In a word

The Partner & Business Services Manager is the key player in the management of third-party service delivery into B&CE and is responsible for managing the portfolio of vendors supplying hardware, software and services. The role provides product and service purchasing guidance for the entire IT department and IT contract negotiation for the whole business.

Practically speaking

Reporting to the Director of IT, you’ll be responsible for;

Strategy & Planning

  • Negotiate major IT deals and support the negotiation of business deals from a technology perspective where required.
  • Develop and leverage a broad view of the IT department’s agreements with vendors to obtain better terms and prices on behalf of the entire IT department.
  • Enforce company policy and legal and contractual best practices regarding suppliers.

Operational Management

  • Run a dedicated IT vendor management office, developing processes and building a team to focus on managing the entire portfolio of IT vendors.
  • Evaluate a potential provider’s reputation.
  • Assess vendor resources and expertise.
  • Maintain a catalog of preferred vendors for IT products and services.
  • Lead contract negotiations.

Work Conditions

  • Some travel may be required for the purpose of meeting with vendors, suppliers, service providers, or offsite contractors.

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial.
  • Excellent contract management skills are essential.
  • Tenacious with effective bartering and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with vendors, suppliers, and contractors who provide a broad spectrum of products and services.
  • Highly analytical.
  • Superb budgeting, inventory, and cost-management skills.
  • University degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven experience as a senior IT professional, with experience managing virtual teams.
  • Direct work experience with software licensing, hardware procurement, and offshore agreements in a purchasing or procurement capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of purchasing regulations and laws.
  • Good familiarity with IT contracts and service level management.
  • Strong familiarity and technical competence with purchase management software and/or automated procurement systems.
  • Solid working knowledge of current IT technologies, including Microsoft across a wide variety of areas, including cloud.
