In a word

Reporting to the Head of PMO, support the Programme Manager and Portfolio Office in providing comprehensive and professional programme and project management services to the programme and all appropriate stakeholders. Facilitate the  successful delivery of a major digital transformation change programme and its integrated workstreams, taking the lead in managing a subset of projects if required.
The post holder will be expected to work across all workstreams and line management boundaries to ensure effective and successful delivery of the change programme.

Practically speaking

Reporting to the PMO Analyst, you’ll be responsible for;

Work for the programme alongside the Programme Manager on a day-to-day basis to provide PMO support services to the programme on behalf of the Portfolio Office and be able to initiate, where required, and support the following activities within the programme:

  • Establish, monitor and support all programme governance forums
  • Ensure robust plans are in place for the projects within the programme
  • Ensure the programme and related projects adhere to company governance processes and standards, in line with best practice
  • Provide specialist domain knowledge to the team, mentoring less experienced project managers where needed
  • Establish, monitor, control & report on programmes/projects
  • Oversee programme/project interdependencies
  • Ensure effective risk and issues management is in place throughout programme and for the duration of the programme
  • Provide metrics to monitor third party performance, and provide challenge to delivery to identify any areas of risk
  • Collate and forecast programme resource requirements to provide effective resource management

  • Previous experience of working in a similar role either in a programme or PMO environment
  • PRINCE2 certified / practitioner or equivalent
  • Works on own initiative and communicates effectively as a team member
  • Ability to effectively influence to achieve the desired outcomes
  • Ability to challenge delivery partners to provide assurance on their progress against delivery plans
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams
  • Able to analyse information and present in a clear and accurate manner, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to write formal and factual reports, identifying key issues
  • Able to identify problems and determine solutions
  • Works towards tight deadlines whilst working to multiple and conflicting deadlines
  • Maintains personal composure under pressure and experienced in managing challenging and pressurised circumstances
  • Strong IT skills in Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and experienced Microsoft Project user
