The Mowlem Award

About the Mowlem Award

Our Mowlem Award is an annual £20,000 grant given to organisations that can demonstrate they will make a real difference towards training or the promotion of health and safety in construction. Launched in 2015, the Mowlem Award furthers the work of the RI Beck Trust – a charity set up in 1983 by the construction company, Mowlem.

Introducing our 2020 Mowlem Award winner

EN:Able Communities will use the Mowlem Award grant money to deliver entry-level remote construction training to 121 young people and those wishing to change careers across Yorkshire and Humber – an area with high youth unemployment. The initiative aims to give these young people the recognised industry skills to gain a Construction Skills Certification scheme card, which will allow them to find work on construction sites.

In 2020, we received our highest number of Mowlem Award applications ever. With so many worthy causes to choose from, we gave ‘highly commended’ awards to 2 other organisations. A B&CE Charitable Trust first! These were won by Bounce Back and St Mungo’s – who both received smaller grants to help towards their proposals.
