Geoff Lister, one of B&CE’s Non-Executive Board Members, has been recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List with a CBE for services to training in construction. The CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) is awarded for prominent national or regional roles and to those making distinguished or notable contributions in their own specific areas of activity.
Mr Lister is the Cross-industry Construction Apprenticeship Task Force Chairman (CCATF) and former FMB (Federation of Master Builders) National President. He is also the Chair of the FMB Training Sub-Group.
Mr Lister began training apprentices when he founded his own building, maintenance and refurbishment business in 1975 and has since held leadership positions at the FMB, Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).
As Chair of the CCATF, Mr Lister said he is “proud” he has managed to bring together construction unions and trade federations to influence Government policy on construction, apprenticeships and training. He has previously been awarded the CIOB Golden Jubilee Lifetime Achievement Award for services to the construction industry.
