Patrick joined B&CE in 1985 and became Chief Executive Officer in October 2012. He has been instrumental in driving the business forward, including the launch of The People’s Pension, and in shaping the Group’s overall strategy.

Patrick sits on the Board of Directors for B&CE Insurance Ltd and B&CE Financial Services Ltd companies.

Robert (Bob) started out in the construction industry as a bricklayer, and was appointed as the T&G National Secretary for the construction industry in 1998.

Bob holds numerous positions of responsibility including being a Board Member of the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) Construction Skills Council and became a Trustee of the B&CE Charitable Trust in January 2001.

Vaughan is an Employer Representative at B&CE and became a Trustee of the B&CE Charitable Trust in December 2020.

He’s had many years’ experience in human resources and learning and development roles, including as a UK Human Resources Executive for a multi-national facilities management contractor.

In October 2006, Vaughan joined the Scottish Building Federation (SBF) as the Head of Employment Affairs and then later became the Deputy Chief Executive. He’s currently the Managing Director at the SBF (since January 2013).

While heading the SBF, Vaughan also manages the terms and conditions of construction apprentices throughout Scotland as the Employer Secretary of the Scottish Building Apprenticeship and Training Committee.

Overall, he specialises in employee relations and employment law.

Rupert is the Managing Director of John Perkins Construction, an award-winning construction company based in Bristol and Newport. The business was named Building Contractor of the Year in England (turnover under £15m) at the 2020 Construction Awards of Excellence.

Rupert has held a variety of external board-level positions for organisations, including the Considerate Constructors Scheme, the National Federation of Builders, the South West Builders Federation, and the Building Safety Group. He is also part of the Construction Industry Training Board Industry Funding Committee.

Jerry Swain has spent the whole of his working life in the construction industry. After leaving school in 1975, aged 16, he took up employment as an apprentice carpenter in the construction industry and joined the Union of Construction, Allied Trades and Technicians (UCATT).

Following his election as a full-time officer, he was appointed UCATT London & South East Regional Secretary and, with support, built it into the largest region in the union. In January 2017, UCATT merged with Unite and soon after the transfer, Jerry was appointed to the position of National Officer for Construction.

Jerry is currently the National Operatives’ Secretary and Vice Chair of the Construction Industry Joint Council. He’s also a Board Member of the Construction Skills Certification Scheme.
