Social media policy

These are our terms for your use of our UK social media community, which includes comments and uploads on peoplespartnership.co.uk, bandce.co.uk, thepeoplespension.co.uk, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, Wikipedia, Whisper, Instagram, WhatsApp, Tik Tok, LinkedIn and all other social networking sites, internet postings and blogs. We call this our ‘Community’.

Please read our terms carefully, as they give information about using our Community in a way that is respectful and lawful. By using or submitting material to our Community you agree that you’ve read, understood, accepted, and agreed to abide by our terms. If you disagree with any of the terms you should not access our Community.

‘We’ means the People’s Partnership Group of Companies (for more information see our legal page).

We do not endorse any social networks who may be profiled in our Community through our webpages, nor are we in any way responsible for their content or availability. We recommend you read those terms and policies carefully before using them. If you access those social media channels you do so at your own risk. We are not responsible for any losses or damages you suffer as a result of their use or through your failure to read and/or comply with the terms, conditions and policies. Where there is a conflict between our terms and the relevant social network’s terms and conditions, the social network’s terms and conditions will prevail as far as they relate to our profile on that network.

These terms are in addition to B&CE’s website legal notices and terms of use, and our privacy notice. You’ll find details of our company, including regulatory details of relevant members of our group, trading and registration details, in the legal notices and terms and conditions on B&CE’s website.

Please note: we use our social media channels to show members, employers and people in the industry our latest updates, and to share the latest news with our followers. Our social media channels are not staffed by our customer service team. If you have a query or complaint, please go to our Contact Us page for details on how to contact customer services directly.

We encourage you to share content via our Community in line with our terms of use. We call this shared content your ‘Contribution’. We try to monitor the Community during normal UK business hours (9am-5pm, Monday to Friday, excluding UK public holidays). We try to check that all submissions to our Community comply with our acceptable use standards, which are shown below, as soon as reasonably possible after publication.

We can’t guarantee how quickly Contributions will be published or if they will be published at all.

If, in our opinion, an individual uses our Community in breach of our terms of use (including our acceptable use standards) we may remove or disable access to any Contribution. We may also terminate, suspend or change the conditions of your access to our Community without warning. We may bring legal proceedings against an individual for breaching our terms of use or take any other action we think is appropriate.

We have no liability for any loss or damage arising from anyone’s use of the Community in breach of our terms of use.

Whilst we may moderate our Community, we are not legally responsible for any material posted by third parties. We may stop or suspend our moderation of the Community at any time. We are not under a duty to notify you of any such decision.

  • The views or opinions expressed by any individual in our Community are theirs alone.
  • No-one should rely on financial or other advice or information posted to our Community. We have no liability or responsibility if a Community user, or anyone other third party relies on what they read or hear through the Community.
  • Other users may provide content claiming expertise, information or advice. You should consider carefully whether or not to follow such advice posted by users who do not represent us. We can accept no liability in these circumstances.
  • Sometimes we automatically ‘follow back’ users who follow our profiles in the Community. A follow-back is not an endorsement. The same applies to re-tweeting or sharing messages posted on accounts that we do not own, or marking them as ‘favourites’, or otherwise sharing information on a different platform.

Our Community is intended for use by individuals aged 16 years or older.  You should not use our social media channels or our Community if you are below this age.

You may not misuse our Community in any way not permitted by these terms of use. Our Community has been created to enable you to communicate with us and about us. You may share and comment on content that we post in our Community, provided you do not amend it and that you cite us as the source.

We will assume that all material you post to our Community is not confidential and we will have the right to use, edit, alter, reproduce, publish and or distribute it for any commercial and non-commercial purposes, including but not limited to publication on our website or on the websites of third parties.

We want to create an open, caring and respectful Community. To help us do this, you agree that your use of our Community and your Contributions must:

  • be relevant, respectful, accurate and genuinely believed by you
  • not copy others’ content and should include a credit for any original author as the source of material
  • comply with all relevant domestic, foreign and international laws that govern the content of the Contribution.

We will assume that all material you post to our Community is not confidential and we will have the right to use, edit, alter, reproduce, publish and/or distribute it for any commercial and non-commercial purposes, including but not limited to publication on our website or on the websites of third parties. If you wish to complain about any Contribution posted to the Community, please contact us on X (formerly Twitter) or by emailing info@peoplespartnership.co.uk. When you submit a complaint, please outline the reason for your complaint, and specify where we can find the Contribution concerned.

We may ask you for more information about any complaint regarding a Contribution before we process it. We’ll then review the relevant Contribution and decide whether it complies with our acceptable use standards (shown above). We’ll deal with any Contribution that, in our opinion, violates those standards. We’ll inform you of the review’s outcome within a reasonable time of receiving your complaint.

We may revise our terms at any time. You’re expected to check this page from time to time to take notice of any changes we make, as they are legally binding on you and apply to you from the date of the change. You agree to accept and comply with changes to our terms if you use our Community after we’ve made the changes.

From time to time, we may at our discretion change, suspend or permanently withdraw access to all or part of our Community without prior notice. For example, we may do so if we are experiencing technical issues.

Before contributing, you may be required to register with our Community, for example by completing a registration form. In some cases, your name or other personal details will appear as part of your Contribution when published. If we require you to submit personal data directly to us during any registration process, we’ll use it only for administration and monitoring. We’ll only share it with third parties if we notified you of our intention or we are legally obliged to do so.

Our privacy and cookies policies give more information on how our use and disclosure of your personal data is governed.

By submitting a Contribution to our Community, you agree to give us a non-exclusive perpetual copyright licence to use that Contribution for any purpose.

‘Non-exclusive’ means you may still use it, too. ‘Perpetual’ means forever.

You also agree to waive your moral rights in or regarding that Contribution. You will still own your copyright in your Contribution, but we will have the right to freely use, edit, alter, reproduce, publish, disclose or distribute the material in your Contribution in any format and media and for any purpose.

The licence you give us will be free of charge and we may sub-license it. We may exercise all copyright and publicity rights in the material in your Contribution in all jurisdictions, to their full extent and for the full period for which any such rights exist in that material. People’s Partnership reserves the right to display advertisements regarding your Contribution.

A ‘jurisdiction’ means, for example, an area governed by a particular set of laws, like England and Wales.

Please also note that, in line with our acceptable use standards, you must ensure that your Contribution does not infringe any person’s copyright, database right or trademark. By submitting your Contribution to our Community, you promise you have the right to grant us the non-exclusive copyright licence described above.

If you’re unable or unwilling to grant us such a licence, please do not submit the Contribution to our Community.

The following clauses exclude or limit our legal liability for our Community. You should read them carefully. They all apply only as far as the law permits and we do not intend to affect our duties and liabilities to you under any relevant legislation, nor any rights you may have as a consumer including your right to receive a reasonable standard of service. For more information about your rights, you may contact your local Citizens Advice Bureau, Trading Standards Office or the Financial Conduct Authority.

We do not warrant that any content posted by us is accurate, complete, or up to date. We will have no liability to you if it is not.

We are not responsible for: (i) losses not caused by our breach; (ii) failure to perform or provide any services where such failure is due to events beyond our control; (iii) indirect losses which are a side effect of the main loss or damage and which are not reasonably foreseeable by you and us at the time of entering into these terms of use, for example loss of profits or loss of opportunity; (iv) loss or damage in connection with any third party website, applications or software linked from our Community; (v) loss or damage due to viruses or other harmful code which may infect your device.

Nothing in these terms of use shall exclude or limit our liability for:
(a) death or personal injury caused by negligence; or
(b) fraud; or
(c) misrepresentation as to a fundamental matter; or
(d) any liability which cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

If you breach these terms of use and we take no action against you, we reserve our rights and will still be entitled to use our rights and remedies in any other situation where you breach these terms of use.

If any part of these terms of use is disallowed or found to be ineffective by any court or regulator, the other provisions shall continue to apply.

These terms of use shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
